What is the Right to Disconnect?

In countries and regions that have passed “right to disconnect” laws, employees have the right to refuse non-urgent work-related contact outside working hours. As of October 2024, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, the province of Ontario, and over a dozen other countries are among places affected. Companies that violate this right may be subject to fines or other penalties.
